Go Green with Eco-Chic Decorating

Since Earth Day is this coming Sunday, I’m finding myself in a “green” frame of mind this week. I’ve noticed that what with American Pickers, American Restoration, and all the auction shows on TV, recycling vintage finds is suddenly incredibly popular. It’s always been popular with me! If you’ve been paying attention to some of my more random posts, you already know that I’m sort of a fan of auctions, flea markets, antique malls, and the odd yard sale, so it should come as no surprise that I’m ready to jump on the eco-conscious, junk reclamation bandwagon. Junkers are the original green team!

In search of today’s green inspiration, I’ve turned to one of my favorite Leisure Arts idea books—Eco-Chic Decorating. Antique dealers are having trouble selling these old wardrobes because people don’t use them to hide their TVs anymore…

But I’d certainly use a redo like this to hide stuff in the kitchen!

You can get old lamps for almost nothing at most auctions…

Get them ugly and cheap and transform them into way cool!

The Love-Of-My-Life keeps coming home with old cameras from his junk sales. May have to turn some of them into photo frames!

I’m a plate freak…and a borderline clock fanatic!

I’ve always wanted to line a walkway or border a flowerbed with a row of mismatched china plates!

Over the years, stuff breaks…and you end up with a box of lids (and the Love-Of-Your-Life is looking at you funny again)…Hang them on the wall like that’s what you intended to do all along!
