McCall’s Quilt Design Star™ 2012

Attention Quiters! Check out this cool contest! Leisure Arts is very proud to be one of the sponsors of McCall’s Quilt Design Star 2012, and this contest is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. For the first time, amateur quilt designers will be competing strictly against each other, and professional designers (those who have received monetary compensation for their quilt designs) will compete in a separate contest track. Finalists will be selected from entries on May 22, and given the opportunity to compete in up to 3 quilt design challenges.

Simply follow the directions on the McCall’s site, and post a photo of an original quilt, designed by you anytime between March 13–April 29 to enter. Public voting on the qualifying round of quilts begins May 1, 2012. By the end of the year, McCall’s will be crowning TWO new McCall’s Quilt Design Stars™, one from each designer category.

Yes, there are prizes:
• All contest entrants will receive a link to download a handy Quilt Designers' Easy Patterning Guide PDF.
• All contest entrants selected as finalists to participate in Challenge 1 will receive a prize package of quilters' goodies.
• All Challenge 1 finalists selected to participate in Challenge 2 will receive an additional prize package of quilters' goodies.
• All Challenge 2 finalists selected to participate in Challenge 3 will receive an AccuQuilt Go! Baby.

Grand prizes include a sewing machine (Pfaff quilt expression 4.0 with quilter’s toolbox in the Professional Category, Viking Sapphire 874 Quilt in the Amateur Category) plus $500 cash to the winner of each group. Winning quilts will also be featured in McCall’s Quilting magazine.
